In Concert at the Mighty Wurlitzer: ROBERT BALFOUR-ROWLEY and WILL SHAW
Our July concert features two special visitors:
Rob Balfour-Rowley played the New Vic organ in concert some years ago in one of our ‘Youth at the Console’ programmes, but these days he rarely has time for concert work as he is far too busy with the ‘day job’ of working on organs of all types. Having worked for Durham organ builders Harrison and Harrison he has worked on many famous organs and it is fair to say that he knows the New Victoria Centre organ ‘inside out’ as he has spent countless hours carrying out tonal regulation work on the organ pipes, etc., and then playing it to test the results of his work!
Meanwhile we are pleased to welcome a young organist making his first visit to Howden le Wear, Will Shaw. Will was winner of the ATOS Young Theatre Organist of the Year competition in the UK and has developed an impressive style playing some large pipe and digital theatre organs.
