Renowned as the man who could play anything with a keyboard, Bill Davies was perhaps best known as a regular contributor to the BBC Radio 2 programme ‘Friday Night is Music Night’, but as well as enjoying playing any kind of music on piano, he loved the theatre organ. When he announced his intention to retire from playing, we said to him ‘you must record some of the music you like to play – the orchestral transcriptions that don’t get aired every day’. So, this is his retiring collection of light classics and some pieces that don’t see the light of day too often – we hope you find it enjoyable.
