Description
Simon’s truly ‘orchestral’ style of playing fully exploits the newly enlarged and improved New Vic Wurlitzer in the first recording since the major refurbishment of the instrument was carried out. The music is ‘topped’ and ‘tailed’ by two short up-tempo pieces and in between you will find the lovely Grieg ‘Nocturne’ and the equally lovely ‘Moonlight in Vermont’ with a bit of the ‘Moonlight Sonata’ worked in for good measure(!), several pieces from the ‘light music’ repertoire and lots from the great American songbook including ‘Nature Boy’ (of Nat ‘King’ Cole fame) and a selection from that much under-rated show ‘Brigadoon’.
The whole spectrum of the Wurlitzer’s tone palette is displayed here from the quiet string,Vox Humana and Oboe Horn stops to the power of the English Horn cutting through to punctuate the livlier pieces – enjoy!
